Welcome to 2019!
The new year is a time when everyone sets these resolutions-to do better, eat better, exercise more, break bad habits, try a new thing etc. There is a lot of goodness in taking time during this part of the new year to reflect and think about where we are, what we do, and how we want that to be different. But societal expectations and imagery are harsh, and we can fall prey to their unrealistic tendencies.
Goals chain us to outcomes, intentions set us free.
Goals can be dangerous to our overall well-being, because the ties us to the outcome. We can become so focused on the success or failure of the goal, that we miss the very point.
Intentions are different than goals, in that we are free to be our true selves. Our fulfillment is not chained to an outcome. Our happiness is not attached to our “success”.
Typically, the intention, behind the goal is what you truly want to get at.
Ask questions that look at your desires and thing you want to eliminate, and then find the intention behind those answers. Behind every answer, there is a positive action state leading us to our true self, the highest vibration of our energy.
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
What do I want to activate in my life?
What do I desire?
What gives me passion?
What gives me purpose?
What connects me?
What do I want to eliminate?
Reflect on your answers, find the intention behind them, and orient any negative association toward positive states of being. You can use your intentions in your meditation, prayer, write them out and refer to them as a reminder, journal about them, etc. Whatever practice suits your needs best.
Namaste’-
